EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT
MITCHELL C. SKLAR
As usual, the NJSACOP had a large presence at the IACP Annual Conference. It was clear
that our members and our guests greatly enjoyed the Association’s networking reception
aboard the “Odyssey Chicago.” At this year’s conference in particular, the NJSACOP, and
New Jersey law enforcement in general, played a prominent and significant role. The
conference featured excellent presentations from NJSACOP President Chris Leusner, New
Jersey Attorney General Grewal, and NJSP Superintendent Pat Callahan. During our
meetings, I was asked to speak to the Executive Director’s Committee about the NJSACOP’s
outstanding Professional Development programming. And of course New Jersey's own Chief
Paul Cell, who as the outgoing IACP President presided over the entire conference. As always, I was proud to be a
representative of New Jersey's exceptional law enforcement community, and I am glad to say that I can feel that
same pride in our members as well.
As we all know, even though our members and the agencies they lead face many daunting challenges, this
Thanksgiving month is a particularly appropriate time for us to think about all of the things for which we should be
thankful. Each of us has our own personal list – family, friends, good health, and all of the other blessings that
come with life in this state and this country. On behalf of our Association staff, I want to wish all of our members,
colleagues, and supporters, and especially the police officers serving our communities, a heartfelt “thank you” for
all that you do every day.
