EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT MITCHELL C. SKLAR The New Jersey Police Chief Magazine | June 2020 Disappointing and Unfortunate, but Unavoidable and Inevitable With the public health and welfare of our membership, stakeholders, industry partners, and the law enforcement community of utmost concern, the 2020 NJSACOP Annual Training Conference and Police-Security Expo, scheduled for August 25 & 26, have been cancelled. While our state has made great progress in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic over the past few months, there are still significant restrictions in place, and we have been informed by the relevant authorities that they cannot at this time give approval for large-scale indoor events. Additionally, there is a strong likelihood the facilities we utilize for our conference and expo will not be available for our use. We will continue to monitor developments and make decisions concerning other future programs and events. In the meantime, we are already beginning to plan for the 2021 Annual Training Conference & Police-Security Expo. And of course, we will continue the important work of supporting our members and their agencies in the response to the current health crisis and the other important work they do on behalf of their communities. On a more positive note, we are hard at work on a new initiative: the NJSACOP e-Learning Center. Stay tuned for more on this in the very near future. Mitchell C. Sklar, Esq. NJSACOP Executive Director The NJSACOP sends its sincerest condolences to the family of Chief Gerard Cappella Retired Member 4
