The movie “Imitation Game” is based on a true story.

The movie is about a man called Alan Turing, who solved the Enigma Code during WWII. The Enigma Code enabled the Axis powers to communicate with all its groups in undecipherable Morse-Coded radio communication. Only after years of work was this code cracked by the Allies which yielded huge amounts of military intelligence.

The problem was that Turing couldn't tell anyone that he cracked the code because the Germans would realise and change it.

Alan Turing had other problems as well- he was a homosexual, and in those times, homosexuality was considered to be a crime. When he was charged guilty of his “crime", Alan was given a medical treatment that damaged his mental abilities.

Today, Alan Turing is considered to be the father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence. In 2013, Queen Elisabeth granted Alan a posthumous pardon for his so-called crime.

I really liked this movie because it tells a story that one can connect to. It also shows you that all the rights that people have nowadays did not exist in the past.

I strongly recommend watching the movie if you are interested in knowing more about how Alan Turing cracked the Enigma Code and how he dealt with his “crime”.
