Name: Louis Pasteur
Birthday: December 27, 1822
Place of Birth: Dole, France
Date of death: September 28, 1895
Inventions: Pasteurization and Vaccines against Rabies, TB, Cholera, Smallpox and anthrax.
Uses for inventions:
Pasteurization: a system used to kill off bacteria found in beverages like milk. By heating up and then cooling down the beverage, you kill off the bad bacteria.
All the vaccines: used to prevent each one’s particular disease.
Louis Pasteur was a chemist, doctor, inventor and over all scientist. He has invented a variety of vaccines and pasteurization, a process named after him. As a young student, he was always good at drawing and painting. Later on, he earned his Bachelor of Art Degree, Bachelor of Science Degree, and a Doctorate at the École Normale in Paris. He became a professor and met Marie Laurent. Later on they got married and had five children. Only two of the five survived their childhood. Pasteur discovered why milk, wine, and other beverages would spoil very quickly - it was bacteria. He then developed a process of boiling and then cooling the beverage, therefore killing off the bacteria. Along with that invention, he and his team developed vaccines for various diseases. On July 6, 1885, Pasture vaccinated a nine year old boy named Joseph Meister, who has been bitten by a rabid dog. The vaccine was so successful, that it brought him immediate fame. He lived until the age of 72. His remains were transferred to a Neo-Byzantine crypt at the Pasteur Institute in 1896.
