Slow living, savoring the moment, lingering to talk some more, walking where you want to go. On Main Street there is one blinking light. Friendly shops line the road. And dogs are often welcome. Some dog owners bring their dogs to work and visit. Visitors are encouraged to come inside with their dogs, heck, even take them off lead. It is a refreshing and affirming attitude. Dixie Partington thinks being dog friendly makes perfect sense. “I think the world is changing,— some of us don’t have children—dogs are our family.” Two years ago Dixie bought PETunia, a store billed as “an outstanding shop for pets and their people.” It is now the fundraising arm of Dixie Theater Foundation.
