Fall 2017 Event Recap
2nd Annual
Mtn. View
D ia de los M uertos
On November 5, 2017, the MVHA
hosted its second annual Mtn. View
Dia de los Muertos celebration. A
short presentation on the history
of Pioneer Memorial Park by
MVHA President Candace Bowers
kicked off the event. Soon after,
the Adobe Building was filled with
the sights and sounds of traditional
Mexican dance and music thanks
to the talented performances of
Raices de Mexico and Mariachi
Tapatio. In addition to celebrating
Mtn. View’s historic Mexican roots
and culture, the event was also a
chance to honor the lives of those
who have passed away and reflect
on our shared history.
Younger dancers wore
elaborate Dia de los Muertos
face paint.

MVHA’s Dia de los Muertos altar honored
Mountain View pioneers and departed leaders of
the association. Mariachi Tapatio performs

Mariachi Tapatio started their performance in the
garden. As the sun went down and November’s chill
set-in, everyone moved into the cozy, fireplace-
warmed Adobe Building. Fresh pan dulce (Mexican sweet
bread) was enjoyed by all!
