Happy summer, everyone!
I hope that like me, you’re looking forward to the return of our
annual Summer BBQ at the Adobe Building and its “Mountain
View in the 1980s” theme!
For the past few BBQs we’ve themed decor and music to the
1950s and 1960s. This was partly done to complement the
featured item on our menu, the beloved “Parisian Burger”
from Linda’s Drive-In, which opened in 1956 and was located
on El Camino Real at Escuela Avenue.
While planning this year’s BBQ, we wanted to change things
up a little with a new theme; the photo above served as our
inspiration. It’s a close-up photo of Linda’s Drive-In right
before it closed, in 1985. Seeing this photo was a reminder
that the MVHA has never really had an event themed to that
era of Mountain View history.

So our Board thought it might be fun to swing the theme to the
other side of the Linda’s era and look back at Mountain View
in the 1980s. As a child of the 1980s, I’m excited to dive into
our archives and pull together a slideshow with photos and
factoids from the decade I was born in.
