MVHA SPRING 2016 EVENT
ore than a mall: Mayfield!
Mark your calendars for the Mountain View Historical
Association’s Spring Event and Membership Meeting,
“More Than a Mall: Mayfield!”
Fifty years ago Mayfield Mall, one of the first indoor
shopping malls in the Bay Area, opened in Mountain
View. Many fondly remember the mall, but fewer
know the history behind the mall’s name or are
aware of the Town of Mayfield, one of the oldest
settlements in the Santa Clara Valley and Mountain
View’s former neighbor to the north.
Join us on May 1 at Mountain View’s historic Adobe
Building as Palo Alto historian Steve Staiger shares
the tale of the long-lost Town of Mayfield, and
Mountain View history book author Nick Perry
presents a slide show on Mayfield Mall. Fascinating
local history, tasty refreshments, pleasant company,
in a beautiful historic landmark—a great way to
celebrate May Day!
We hope to see you there!
