MVHA Board of Directors The Board of Directors is very happy to announce that Mark Perry has volunteered to join the Board and ill the vacant position of Ways & Means Committee Chair. The of icial duty of the Ways & Means Committee Chair is “to formulate plans for the raising of funds for special projects of the Association,” and Mark is a perfect it for this role. A native of Mountain View and a proud alumni of old Mountain View High (Class of 1975), Mark brings both a passion for his hometown’s history and decades of experience in sales and marketing to the position. Those of you who have attended recent meetings and events should recognize his face; Mark has frequently volunteered with the MVHA in the past. He’s also the father of our current president! Please join us in welcoming Mark to the Board. Look for him at future events manning our merchandise table where he’ll be working to raise funds for the association through history book and T-shirt sales. Certi icates of Deposit Balance as of 6/25/2019: $60,299.09 Certi icates of Deposit Balance as of 9/2/2019: $60,229.09 MVHA Board Updates By Nicholas Perry MVHA President Updates from our last Board of Directors Meeting, held on August 28, 2019: Non-Proϐit Status: Good news! The association’s tax-exempt status has been of icially restored by the State of California Franchise Tax Board. A special note of appreciation to former President Nick Galiotto for his guidance as we worked to resolve the paperwork issues with the state. Khan Lab Partnership: The Board agreed to partner with 1st and 2nd grade teachers at the Khan Lab school on Villa Street on “Mountain View, Wherever,” a local history project that will teach students about the history of our city, as well as other towns named Mountain View throughout the country. 1975 Eagles CCS Championship Monument: The Board unanimously voted to write a letter of support for the group working to install a monument at Eagle Park honoring the Mtn. View High School 1975 football championship team (see article in our Spring 2019 newsletter for more information). Veterans Memorial Interpretive Sign: The Mtn. View Veterans Memorial interpretive sign, co-funded by the MVHA, should be installed at Eagle Park by early November. The sign describes the meaning of the veterans’ memorial and the history of Eagle Park. Our next Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled for December 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the History Center at the Mountain View Library. Interested members are welcome to attend! 3
