Team Up to Clean Up with Love Your Community
Story and Mission
Love Your Community ( LYC ) is an anti-littering program sponsored by the Mobile County Commission in partnership with Keep Mobile Beautiful , Inc . It aims to encourage citizens to participate in community clean-up and beautification . The program utilizes teams of citizens as active participants and may consist of one to any number of individuals . Teams are typically formed by neighborhood groups , schools , service organizations , environmental groups or individuals who go on walks .
Once registered , Love Your Community provides all the necessary supplies for free including litter grabbers , safety vests , gloves and trash bags . Teams will then be responsible for monitoring and organizing litter pick-up and removal on an ongoing basis at selected locations . Clean-up activities can be scheduled based on the time and dates most convenient for the teams or individuals .
The program is unique because it rewards participants for their hard work . Teams or individuals can earn grant funds ranging from $ 500 to $ 1,500 to use toward a beautification or sustainability project of their choosing . For instance a team of five who works 50 hours ( just 10 hours per person !) will earn a $ 500 grant toward a community beautification project of their choice .
Love Your Community is actively seeking more teams or individuals to join the program . To learn more and register a team , visit www . loveyourcommunity . com . Please join us in keeping Mobile litter-free !
