Story and Mission
Feeding the Gulf Coast , formerly Bay Area Food Bank , serves a 24-county area spanning South Alabama , South Mississippi , and the Florida Panhandle . The food bank annually distributes nearly 30 million meals through a network of more than 800 community partners . Feeding the Gulf Coast also operates multiple hunger-relief and nutrition programs , including Summer and Afterschool Meals , Backpack and School Pantries , Disaster Relief , Mobile Food Distributions , and Nutrition Education through its newly formed program , Mobile Market .
How To Do Some Good :
Across the central Gulf Coast , one in six individuals , including children , struggle with food insecurity . In our nine-county South Alabama service area alone , that equates to nearly 120,000 individuals on an ordinary day impacted by the pain of hunger . Community support makes our mission possible . There are countless ways for individuals and organizations to get involved and make a difference . For every $ 5 donated , the food bank can provide 25 meals to those facing hunger . Story and Mission
Flourish is a non-profit whose mission is to equip and empower teen girls from under resourced communities in Mobile and Baldwin County , Alabama .
We provide a free community center in Daphne , AL where teen girls come weekly for our “ Equip ” & “ Empower ” workshops . Empower workshops focus on building self confidence and teaching life skills on topics like physical and mental health , art and community service projects .
Our “ Equip " career preparation program focuses on preparing our older teen girls for the future through hands on job skills , touring college campuses and visiting local businesses . They also work for our candle making program where they learn job skills and make a stipend for candles we sell in the community .
We have served over 50 girls in our community and we continue to see girls who join our program with stories of attempted suicide , trauma and abuse and find hope and healing at Flourish .

With the increasing statistics around teen mental health and decrease in physical activity due to smart phones and limited PE in school , we want to equip & empower our teen girls with the knowledge and support they need to live healthy , active lifestyles !
