Story and Mission
The American Autism & Rehabilitation Center opened in 2015 to provide hope to families living in the world of special needs . Out of personal experience , it was recognized that the community needed one location to provide comprehensive therapies and individualized treatment plans as unique as each patient to help them reach their full potential while offering support to the family unit . To expand and enhance the therapeutic services and sensory-friendly programs offered not only at the American Autism & Rehabilitation Center , but through partnering organizations whose efforts reflect the common goal to minimize or eliminate obstacles that interfere with the independence of the growing child with special needs , the American Autism & Rehabilitation Foundation , a 501 ( c )( 3 ) nonprofit was formed .
Through the American Autism & Rehabilitation Foundation , the organization can apply for grants and participate in fundraising opportunities to help provide the monetary support needed to be a resource to the special needs community and offer sensory-friendly programs to include Summer Camps , Kids Yoga Classes , a Sensory- Friendly Trick-or-Treat event and Photos with Santa . According to the foundation President , Kevin Mohler , “ tax-deductible contributions through the foundation allow us to serve others in Baldwin & Mobile Counties by contributing to building fences , repairing playgrounds , providing meals to families in need and to pave the way for a special needs educational program .”
