language, it could be assumed that the KPALS treatment made a difference in their increased letter naming and sound knowledge.

Findings

Two groups of preschool students attended summer school Monday through Thursday for two weeks each (eight days total). The first group (Group 1, n=19) received ELA core instruction as well as KPALS instruction. The second group (Group 2, n=18) received ELA core instruction only.

Group 1, who received Tier 1 ELA core instruction as well as KPALS instruction increased, on average, 15.8% on capital letter names, 33.3% on lowercase letter names, and 55.2% on letter sound production.
