in the frustration in recognising the format.
Abstraction Progression
As mentioned earlier, the humor of the internet
has its origins in irony and satire. There has been
a clear trend of continual abstraction of meme
culture. There are also multiple levels added to
meta humor. Fig. 96 is an example of an abstract
meme created in 2016. This is a progression of
the abstract meme “succ.” Originally posted on
Tumblr in 2015, this meme is a part of the new
