Editor's note
FIRST of all, a very Happy New Year to all you and especially to all Chinese readers: "Gung Hei Fatt Choy", may the year of the Horse brings posperity, peace and joy to you all.
Yes, it's our fifth issue and we've progressed from 2013 to 2014. I hope the year has been good to you as we experienced growth in terms of the folding bike community and are having more choices as the awareness has grown.
January is an exciting month as the curtain-raiser is the OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014 ride.
This year, the ride is back at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur and as usual, it's going to a draw to cyclists in the local scene as well as regional visitors.
We are going to see some action on the 48km Ultimate Foldie Challenge and a word of advise to all of you who are taking part in this event: "Ride safe".
Remember that it's not a race, so, be mindful of other road users.
On January 5, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall will have their first Car-Free Sunday Mornings.
This will take place on the first Sunday every month from 7.30am - 9.30am.
Certain sections of Kuala Lumpur's City Centre will be closed to traffic to allow pedestrians, skaters and cyclists to roam around freely.
I hope the KL City Hall will keep up their pledge in keeping the city free of vehicles on Sunday and perhaps someday, have a 24-hour Car-Free day instead of only two hours.
As the months progresses, we can look forward to the new bikes from manufacturers as they unveil their 2014 models.
Way I see it, folding bikes are growing popularity and would certainly be looked at as an alternative means of multi-modal transport rather than being merely a "toy".
So, that said, we can look forward to more people joining the fray.
