Visionary outfitter Edmund Foo believes that bicycle touring will hit a high note with the rising awareness of the sport through social network and the internet..
Edmund Foo has a credo: "The World on 2 Wheels" and he plans to spread the good word on bicycle touring.
Fresh out from forming his company World Garment Company, Foo had ventured into the business of outfitting adventure cyclists with racks and luggage carriers through his main brand: Ortlieb of Germany.
"These panniers are built like a tank and they can survive any punishment you throw at them," said Foo.
He began distributing them two years ago after striking an agreement with Ortlieb and became the exclusive distributor for products such as Ortlieb, Racktime and Tubus.
"Ortlieb has been in the business for three decades.
"They celebrated their 30th anniversary by producing a series of limited-edition Backroller classic panniers featuring the map of countries where their products have been to.
"Here in Malaysia, bicycle touring is gaining grounds as more and more cyclists are sharing their experience on the internet through blogs and social media," he explained.
Among the highly demanded products from Ortlieb, said Foo, are the front and back roller panniers, ultimate 5 and 6 handlebar bags and the ever popular Ortlieb knapsacks and backpacks.
He added that cyclists are becoming aware of the products and often visit his showroom in the Subang Avenue shopping mall in SS16, Subang Jaya.
