Ipoh's grand foldie

Uncle John Pah's philosophy is to enjoy every moment after his retirement as a cyclist and see the world on his two wheels..

UNCLE John bought his first folding bike sometime in 2012 and he's loving every moment riding it.

His bicycle of choice is the Tern Eclipse P24h, sourced from a dealer in Ipoh.

He took up cycling with a mountain bike and later acquired a 24" folding bike which he felt, was just to fit his requirement for short and long excursions.

"I purchased a Tern from a dealer in Ipoh when it first came out.

"At the time, choices were limited, so, with two of my friends, we purchased an Eclipse P24h, Link P24h and the Verge P18."

Ever since, the 69-year-old has been cycling all over the country.

"I suffer from hypertension and since I took up cycling, there's no issue about managing my health," he said.

Together with two of his trusted buddies Joe (71) and Tee (73), the grand foldies of Ipoh had carried out some really interesting excursions.

John shared about his foray to Pulau Langkawi and Southern Thailand on The Malaysian Foldies' Forums and had been riding long distance to some far flung destinations.

"We have all the time and when we feel like it, we bikepack to places like Gopeng to have a meal, cycle and explore

the area and when we are done, we just pedal back to the train station and head back to Ipoh," he explained.

John added that he too had made some daytrips to towns like Taiping where the scenery is good and the food is

cheap.
