loving wife to Imam Ali (a.s) and
mother of Al Hasan (a.s) and Al
Hussain (a.s), she was known as
"Umm al Abiha" The Mother Of
Her Father, which her father the
Great Prophet Muhammad
(s.a.w) affectionately called her,
and she was Umm A'emma the
mother of the Imams (a.s), the
Apostles (a.s) of God. She
nurtured her father and was
always the one who was first
there for him in the many times
of trouble and strife.
centered in family life bringing to
attention the importance of a
woman's role therein, as a wife
and a mother in the privacy of
her home and family life, given a
position of honor in this position
as well as security in the
guardianship of her father as a
daughter and with her husband
as a wife. It was this Holy family
that taught us how to conduct
ourselves in relationships. Imam
Ali (a.s) said "a well-organized
family is heaven on earth".
She brought liberation to all
women in a time of darkness and
ignorance, freedom from the
bondage of society's stigmas and
enslavement by men, she raised
the status of a woman giving
them the path to achieve the
respect, dignity and honor Allah
(swt) has intended for them,
through her sacred presence
manifested in an earthy form, she
was the ultimate role model, to
be identified as a compassionate
virtuous human being and a
divine creation of Allah (swt)
outwardly to the world.
This in the midst of an era, when
women were seen as objects of
desire, disposable ornaments in
society. She lived an exemplary
life as the wife of an Apostle of
God and mother of Apostles of
God. This was the unique and
sublime status of Sayyida Fatima
Zahra (a.s).
Inwardly in the home, Sayyida
Fatima Zahra (a.s) was firmly
Imam Ali (a.s) said: “I never
angered Fatima (a.s) nor asked
her to do something she didn’t
like up to the day she died.
Neither did she anger me nor
disobey me. In fact, whenever I
looked at her all depression and
sadness lifted from my heart.”
