Surat Quraysh
By: Hussaintheshortcomer
Peace to those who follow true guidance.
Before we begin to look at Surat Quraysh, I will just
paste an excerpt of Mutashabihat Question 106:
{It is Allah Who takes away the souls at the time of
their death,}.
{Say: "The angel of death, who is set over you, will
take your souls,}.
{Whom the angels cause to die while they are
wronging themselves.}.
{Those whom the angels cause to die (when they
are) good}.
{Until when death approaches one of you, Our
angels take his soul}.
{until, when Our messengers (of death) arrive and
take their souls}.
...so Allah (swt) the Glorified and All Mighty takes
the soul; because He is the Creator, that is the
Controller over all the worlds of the living and the
dead, and the Angel of death (Izra’eel (a.s)) takes the
souls; because he is the leader of the Angels of
death, and the Angels take the souls; because they
are the executors to the command of the Prince of
death, who is the executor to the command of Allah
(swt) the Glorified.
Let us contemplate on these verses:
command and orders and will of Allah (swt), and
this is Muhammad (s.a.w).
Let us contemplate this next verse:
{Do they then wait for anything other than that
Allah should come to them in the shadows of the
clouds and the angels and the question is (thus)
settled? But to Allah do all questions go back (for
decision).} {Surat Al-Baqara(2):210}.
In this verse, it says that "Allah" is coming through
the shadows of clouds. There is no other
interpretations that scholars can make, rather it is
plainly and specifically attributing movement
(coming and going) to Allah (swt). So can we ever
say that Allah (swt) comes or goes (with
movement)? No, because this would mean he
occupies space and time. Rather the person
intended is a person under the command and orders
and will of Allah (swt) and who exists in space and
time, and this is Muhammad (s.a.w).
Now let us explore Surat Quraysh:
{For the taming of Qureysh. *** For their taming
(We cause) the caravans to set forth in winter and
summer. *** So let them worship the Lord of this
House, *** Who hath fed them against hunger and
hath made them safe from fear.}
The House in this context refers to the Holy House
of Allah (swt), the Ka'aba.
{Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining
and radiant). *** Looking at their Lord.} {Surat
Makkah(75): 22-23}
What is the most significant thing to have happened
to the Ka'aba, apart from it being built by Abraham
and Ishmael (a.s)?
In these verses, some faces are radiant and are
"looking" at their Lord. Now nobody can see Allah
(swt), because He does not exist in space or time,
rather He is infinite and omnipresent. So this
reference to "Lord" is intended towards someone
who is not Allah (swt), someone who exists in space
and time, and someone who is under the direct
It split open in half, and allowed Fatima bint Asad
(a.s) to enter inside and give birth to Ali (a.s). Fatima
bint Asad (a.s) is not only the mother of Ali (a.s) but
also the caretaker of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), as
his parents died when he was very young.
6
So in order to worship Allah (swt) - the Lord of the
House, we have to prostrate to the Adam (a.s) of
this time.
And this is none other than Ali (a.s) and the Imams
(a.s) from his children, and all the Muslims
prostrating towards Ka'aba reflects this.
In the Quran, food sometimes represents
knowledge, and giving someone food represents
giving them knowledge.
The executor of the Command of Allah (swt) and
order in order to have "fed them against hunger" is
Ali (a.s).
As Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) taught people the
apparent meaning of the Quran, he taught and
commanded Ali (a.s) to teach the knowledge of the
hidden meanings from the Quran, or in other
words, "fed them against hunger" (hunger - lack of
knowledge).
Fear represents either opposition in this worldly life
such as one group of people threatening another
because of religion/politics, and the other is fear of
being on the wrong religion, a religion that
represents some truth and some falsehood mixed
together, a religion which has grown corrupt over
time.
And since all religions teach different (opposing)
beliefs, there can only be one true religion. Then we
understand that "made them safe from fear" is fear
of being on the wrong religion, from the command
and will of Allah (s.w.t), executed by Ali (a.s) the
door of the city of knowledge (Muhammad - s.a.w).
The other meaning of a group of people threatening
another group can also be found in this verse. From
the emergence of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi (a.s),
comes the unification of one religion, and the
exchange of tyranny and oppression from the world
into justice and equity, removing any fear from the
face of the planet, InshaAllah.
