President ’ sreport

Welcome to another edition of the Trade News .
It has been a very busy time for all at the Master Painters Association since resuming after the Christmas holidays . It is pleasing to see that members are still busy and looking for employees and apprentices . A reminder to members , that if you are interested in employing an apprentice , contact the office for information on apprentice subsidies .
Skill Shortages
There are still severe skills shortages within the industry and now is a good time to look at upskilling your employees and take advantage of the training courses available at your association . Due to the weather conditions there has been a large increase in insurance work available so be prepared to meet this workload .
Membership
The membership of the association continues to grow and it is pleasing that we have a number of former members rejoining . Membership of the MPA does not come easily so when a customer sees the MPA logo on your business , they know that you meet certain criteria and offer quality sevice .
Under quoting is not the way to win jobs .
Focusing on providing quality work and service to your customer and don ’ t sacrifice safety on the job as human life is priceless .
I wish to remind members of the importance of providing clear and precise quotations and if there has been any variations from the original quotation to have the variations signed by the client prior to commencing any works . Variation books are available at the office . When providing a guarantee on your workmanship your client should be provided with a copy of the guarantee and importantly it must state how they access the guarantee if required .
The association as always take this opportunity to thank our associate sponsors , members and consumers for supporting the MPA . Happy Painting !
Jan Persson President
