The Duomo Factory , the works of man and nature
The challenging restoration of the Bagni de ’ Consoli estate ( and now we know where the name comes from – the Baths of the Consuls ) began in the 1990s , after the property was purchased by Eris Bravi , Kevin ’ s father and one of the area ’ s most esteemed entrepreneurs , the founder – with his partner Annamaria Casadio – of the high-end clothing company X ’ s Milano . The work took time : “ At least 14 years ,” recalls Kevin with a smile . As a child , he listened to his father asking how long this sort of “ Duomo Factory ” ( the organisation that supervised the construction of Milan Cathedral , aka the Duomo , and still manages its maintenance )

was going to last . Every morning , before going to the office , Eris would walk through the “ construction site ” that had become his main focus , probably , explains his son , “ the way he wanted to convey to others his vision of a modern and responsible entrepreneur , capable of making a positive and lasting impact on his local area and the community living there ”. The architect Mr Baccherini describes the reasons why the work took so many years : “ The restoration involved a constant search for excellence , choosing the best materials such as terracotta , marble , wood and mosaics that cover the floors and walls , and commissioning contemporary artists to create frescoes and fine finishes …” We have already mentioned the installation by Giosetta Fioroni , one of the greatest living Italian painters and one of the leading exponents of the Piazza del Popolo School . As Kevin tells us , “ this idea came to her after some swallows had made a nest in the ceiling of the site during construction work , until one day they all flew away towards the park and the stunning natural
