E se dall ’ estremo nord balziamo a sud , nel cosiddetto Triangolo Lariano delimitato ai lati dai rami di Como e Lecco e alla base dai laghi briantei , ecco il lago di Pusiano , con al centro l ’ isola dei Cipressi raggiungibile solo in battello ( elettrico ). La sua atmosfera piena di luce , che permea senza differenza l ’ uomo e la natura , è dipinta indelebilmente nella celebre Ave Maria a trasbordo da Giovanni Segantini , tra i massimi esponenti del divisionismo della seconda metà dell ’ Ottocento .

Perché la bellezza del lago di Como è stata scoperta e raccontata nei secoli da centinaia di letterati , pittori , musicisti di ogni parte del mondo . Senza andare troppo indietro , fino ai due Plinii ( il vecchio e il giovane ) che la narrarono fra il primo e il secondo secolo dopo Cristo e hanno contribuito a costruirne il mito , e menzionando solo di sfuggita l ’ umanista Paolo Giovio , anche lui di queste parti , che − solo per dirne una − ha introdotto nel mondo la parola “ museo ” nel suo significato moderno , il Lario ha raggiunto la fama mondiale a partire dal Settecento , quando divenne meta obbligata del Grand Tour europeo . Come abbiamo visto nello scorso numero di questa rivista , il Grand Tour fu un incredibile fenomeno di turismo di élite che alimentò la cultura del vecchio continente , e non solo , fino alla vigilia della prima guerra mondiale . I coniugi Shelley ne sono un vivido esempio , ma la compagnia è talmente numerosa , e prestigiosa , da dare le vertigini : da William Wordsworth a Franz Liszt , da Lady Morgan a Gustave Flaubert , da Friedrich Engels (!) a Mark Twain , da Henry James ad August
