everything was inserted into already prepared schemes, such as the sonnet, the song, the loose hendecasyllables and many others.

The positive aspect was the guarantee of obtaining certain rhythmic effects, the negative aspect was the coercion that the poet suffered in the perennial search for suitable words, suited to the scheme and the completion of the endecasyllable or other verse. Often it was customary to shorten the verbs, to see instead of to see or to do instead of to. Liberation from established patterns was an important fact, famous poets of the last century, such as Ungaretti, Quasimodo, Montale, benefited from it. But a poet who is such, every time, for each poem, has to construct an ever different pattern from himself.

In the age in which we live there is the perception of a radical change, social and cultural, to which even the arts must adapt; the conquests in physics and in other fields allow to glimpse possibilities of life unimaginable, with respect to which, still undefined, there is bewilderment, bewilderment and even hope and improbable expectations. Poetry today has the task of preparing us to live according to new sensibilities, wide open on the universe.
