Sport
Much debate after the SANZAAR executive meeting, held in London (March 10th) has occurred on what the 2018
Super 18 will look like. Will it be 16, 15, or a 14-team format or something completely different? You only have to
look at team results of the conference table below to see which teams may need removing. However, some teams
need to remain to further grow the sport within certain regions of the globe.
Supporters, players and team management staff can only wait while SANZAAR drags their heals in the mud to make
some kind of announcement soon what 2018 Super rugby will look like, hopefully this will be sooner rather than
later.
British & Irish Lions Tour
The British and Irish Lions are a composite team selected from players that are eligible to represent the national
teams of England, Ireland, Scotland, or Wales. The Lions first toured New Zealand in 1888, but did not play against
the New Zealand national team until 1904. Since then they have only won one test series against the All Blacks—in
1971. The side only tours every four years and last played in New Zealand in 2005 when they lost the test series 3–0.
Wales’ head coach and 2013 test series winning coach Warren Gatland retained his role as head coach.
Warren Gatland will name his British & Irish Lions Squad to tour on April 19th. There maybe a few blockers with
most members having picked themselves on six nations form. Barring any injuries before leaving, my touring squad
looks like this:
