First on the list was A1 Hill- this is as you guessed very near the A1 hotel- it is the site where many of the French " dug in " to repel the Viet Minh. Littered with original trenches and bunkers, many of which have been restored, is well worth the 15,000vnd for entry. You do need a sense of balance to traverse the trench bridges but it’ s not too difficult.
Museum – the exhibits in the museum depict the trials and heartache of the times from the beginning of the French conflict in Dien Bein Phu through to the final Vietnamese triumphant conclusion with the French surrender. Admission price is only 15,000vnd, there are some stairs but all in all very easy to move around and enjoy.
