The Vung Tau Veterans & Friends Children ' s Fund“ Transformation from a shack into a fully self contained home as the team provide a needy family of six with a new home.”

“ Although officially formed in 2010, this group of Veterans and expatiates have been helping the local community since the cyclone devastated Vung Tau in 2006. Through their various fund raising ventures they have provided help and support for many communities in Vung Tau.”
I spoke with Peter Taylor again this week and was amazed at the fortitude he has installed on his team to achieve the, what I thought was a very ambitious venture, to completely transform a“ dwelling” into a home in under four weeks.

There is a lot of work behind the scenes that must take place before we can proceed with this type of project, says Peter. Every potential recipient must be thoroughly investigated and prove without doubt that they are entitled to be classed as“ Land Owners” by the local authorities. This process is sometimes daunting as most of the people we are helping are officially squatters in our terms. Possession is 9 / 10ths of the law doesn’ t necessarily apply here in Vietnam and police checks must be done on every applicant. We have an extremely amicable working relationship with the Police, housing & land title committee and the local authorities for the regions, we rely heavily on their advice and“ Red Stamp” before any of our projects are given the go ahead.
