CORE CRITICAL THINKING
The Core Critical Thinking ( CCT ) course runs from Year 7 through to Year 11 . It is designed to develop students ’ critical thinking skills through engagement with a variety of philosophical questions related to morality , art , politics , technology and the human condition .
Year 7 students critically consider the role of rules and laws in society . Students reflect on the role of compassion in human life as well as exploring how new technologies , such as AI , the scientific method , and religious beliefs , shape our lives and the wider world .
In Year 8 students also explore important philosophical questions related to our humanity such as the question of the conceptual relationship between mind , body and soul . They explore questions related to the significance of art in human life , evaluating its moral , spiritual and political significance as a form of human enquiry .
Through engagement with these important issues , the course aims to facilitate a deeper capacity in our students to reflect on the nature of human life while , at the same time , instilling the necessary skills for rigorous intellectual enquiry that enhances their academic lives .
