Reader's Anthems
*Katie is our inspiring anthem sharer this week. *Katie name has been changed to protect her identity, but here is the story behind her anthem “Firework” by Katie Perry. *Katie story isn’t about ex-husband or a boyfriend. Her Anthem comes from being bullied by school mates as a child. She was the wall flower, glasses, and a bit over weight. She was constantly teased. This teasing ended up effecting *Katie’s self-esteem and confidence.
The effects of low self-esteem and confidence went into her adult life. *Katie is in her 20’s, she knows she is young; she finished collage with great grades, and got a good job. None that seem to matter to her due to lack of confidence in herself, she never shined, never stood out. In fact, she even stated that she even dressed and wore makeup that blended into the walls.
One day at work, an older woman, who was vibrant, colorful, and full of life, noticed *Katie. She went up to her and introduced herself and just small talked with her. About once a day, this woman would come over and basically would shoot the breeze with *Katie. After two weeks of this, she asked *Katie if she wanted to go out for a drink after work so they could talk. *Katie usually went home after work; she never really did things like that, mostly because no one ever seems to invite her out. So she said yes.
