Jesus wasn't rebuking Martha for working and serving and she was cumbered which is to say burdened she came and asked Jesus Lord don't you care my sister has left me to serve alone? Bid her to come and help me. Martha was distracted by much serving and Mary was seated at Jesus desiring to listen to His Word. She was agitated and the Lord told her your agitated about many things but of all these there is a need and Mary chose the good part or Mary is doing what is needful. So many think that serving God as a Sunday School Teacher, Pastor, Evangelist, Lay Minister etc, is sufficient to fill the hunger and thirsting in ones soul. This is far from the truth and one must seek the Lords voice through prayer and studying His Word. So many seek the Lord and when they find Him they turn Him loose never listening to the voice of the Spirit of Truth that desires to speak to them. They read a verse or two but never read and allow Jesus to fill their hungry souls with that daily bread that is living and found in God’s Word. Jesus is that bread and we partake of him by studying His Word, and in the Lord's Supper.
