Nate sat still on the snow, Maya stood up and reached out her hand, Clyde shook it respectfully, Rebecca stayed behind him. The Chinese girl next to him looked up at us, she whispered at him and he responded. Rebecca noticed the girl and waved, the girl waved too. Nate noticed, Clye noticed too.
“Hey Becca, you know this kid?” Clyde asked.
“We go to school together. She’s 2 grades above me” she responded.
The girl stood up and walked over to her, she walked around the edges of Nate’s snow map(I swear that kid’s going places) and said hi to the both of us.
“My name is Zhi Lai, nice to meet you both. Ms Rebecca and I go to school together, along with Mr Nate.” she said. She sounds so polite to us. We didn’t really mind about her name, I mean, I’ve met some people with interesting names.
“I-i call her ZeeZee for short! If that’s a bit easier.” Nate said.
“It’s ok Nate, we can roll with it!” I said.
Rebecca came close to Zhi with a curious look, and Zhi motions her to come to where Nate and her have been working on. Matt hangs up with his mom and looks over to us. He waves to Clyde and sees his twin putting on a baseball cap instead of a beanie Maya mentioned. Maya noticed and the two argued again. Clyde and I sat by the bench watching the others play while we talked. The two of us started talking about school.
“So what do you think about Mr Edward?” Clyde asked.
“Oh, he’s very strict, but pretty fair. I'm honestly glad that he let us off this time. Or else we would’ve had a bad winter break.” I responded
“Oof, that’s true, at least you don’t have Ms A as your Language teacher, she plans WAY ahead of time.”
“Please don’t tell me that she’s making you write love letters for Valentine's Day in the last weeks of December.”
“Yep.”
I sighed. “Well that’s a bummer.”
“I mean, it’s not like I HAVE a Valentine. I mean, like I don’t have a CRUSH on someone. Dad says I’m not ready to have a date till I’m 18.”
“Same here.”
“Speaking of which, is your dad gonna come over for Christmas?”
I froze. For the past 3 years it hasn’t been easy for me since dad became a police officer in Emberlight City. Most times, he sends me letters of how his job is and hasn’t visited much, apart from me and Mama’s birthdays. He’s been busy since he got accepted there, a lot busy.
