WINTER

Part 1.

I’m the quiet kid here in River Stone Middle School.

I sit alone in the classrooms, peers give me goofy or scared looks whenever I look at them, it sucks. And it seems like they convinced the new kid to avoid me too. This may be the worst December of my life, I’ll be remembered as the outcast in this neighborhood.

That new kid, ever since he got here, has swept this ciudad by storm, his cute looks got every girl looking at him with awe. His skills in basketball makes him hard to beat. And his personality made him fit in with all the other popular kids in an instant. I wonder why he hasn’t enrolled in school yet. Archie C, I wish I was him, I mean, I wish I had friends like him.

I’m only friends with Nate and a few others at the afterschool center my Mama works at. I don’t really hate him, he’s really sweet with a dope sense of humor. And Maya, she’s really cool and her cover of that one j-pop song I already forgot is awesome, she said she wants a synth for Christmas this year, I hope she gets it. And the twins Tyler and Matthew are really fun to hang out with, if only their mom would stop giving me dirty looks though. Alan doesn’t visit us much because of his condition, but when he does, he’s super funny. As for me, I’m just a kid who almost doesn’t get picked whenever we play baseball.

Well, it’s a week away before winter break and no one has decided to become friends with me.

It’s now for my 8th period class on science and Mr E has decided to delay the science fair project, saying that we’ll start a week after New Years Day, and boy, everyone was happy.

“MY TRIP TO GERMANY IS SAVED!” I heard a kid shout behind me, guess they’re traveling for the holidays.

“Anyways,” the teacher said after we calmed down. “I have prepared a short assignment on predicting weather, it won’t take long.”. I have never seen so many faces drop their smiles, most of us, including me groaned in frustration, and a few slammed their heads on their desks. And for once, anyone else but the classroom nerd raised their hand.
