SHOWREVIEW
Meridian launches into Locksmith world
Lockex 2016 was the first time ever that Meridian Architectural Ironmongery had
exhibited at a show – and the company said it couldn’t have chosen a better one.
»»SALES AND ACCOUNT MANAGER
Luke Jackson Miller said: “We saw
this show as an opportunity to launch
ourselves into the big wide world of
Locksmiths. We have been trading for
nearly ten years, but with the recent
addition of James Weaver as the head
technical director, formerly head of
technical support at Gretsch-Unitas (GU), we are now truly your one-stop shop
for all things G-U, BKS & Ferco.
“We hold a very close relationship with
the umbrella company, G-U, allowing
access to all of the 40,000 products that the
three companies manufacture and giving
unbeatable prices on most of them.”
Luke said Meridian regarded the
interest created from its service, repair and
maintenance section as one of the biggest
positives of attending the show. “We
had many visitors who had been looking
for a company that was well versed and
technically knowledgeable about the
German brand G-U. Our main focus
on service was on the G-U sliding door
systems, Parallel Slide & Tilt (966/968)
and Tilt & Slide (934/937). We are the only
company in the country that solely repairs
and maintains these doors, so we were
happy to be able to provide this service
and knowledge to the visitors we saw.”
The company also had lots of interest
in the products showcased on its stand.
Luke commented: “In terms of new
installations, our Secury Automatic with
A-opener motor went down a storm,
with many people deciding to move
over to our system due to the simplicity
and standard of quality of the products.
Where the repair market is concerned,
all of our sliding door mechanisms were
highly sought after due to there being a
lack of outlets for them in this country and
the general high prices attached to the
products, where they are available.”
Speaking about the debut Lockex show,
he added: “The overall standard of quality
and workmanship shown throughout the
weekend was incomparable. Both the staff
from Lockex and the accompanying staff
from other stands were highly professional
and helpful with any issues we had. We
are looking forward to Lockex 2018.”

NO GO SECURITY PRODUCTS AT LOCKEX 2016
»»NO GO SECURITY PRODUCTS LTD IS
a small single product company founded
by David Murphy, which makes a unique
Glass-Lock that prevents burglars taking
out the glazing on externally beaded
windows.
David worked as a double glazing
installer and then as a ‘Window Doctor’
repairing and replacing windows. Noticing
how frequently he was called to replace
glazed units that had been removed in
burglaries, he developed the concept of
the No-Go Glass Lock.
No-Go Glass Lock is a security device
easily fitted to the glass panes of a double
glazed unit that prevents unauthorised
removal from the outside, but still allows
removal of the glass unit when needed.
The No-Go Glass Lock acts as a deterrent
to intruders, is easy to install and fully
adjustable to fit any frame profile,
available in white, brown, gold, antique
brass, chrome and brushed steel effect.
Aubrey Dunford, the MD of No Go said,
“We launched our product at the MLA
LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | SEP/OCT 2016
show a few years ago but Lockex 2016 was
our first exhibition since then. We were
impressed with the quality of the show
and also the excellent arrangements. The
Ricoh Arena was a great venue.
“We were pleased to be able to show our
product to many of the locksmiths who
had seen our adverts in The Locksmith
Journal but had not seen the product. Our
main issue is to get the message out to
so many households that have externally
beaded windows, but don’t know how
vulnerable their property is. We have
always seen locksmiths as some of the key
people who can help us get the message
out to the public and it was a great
opportunity to talk to them directly.
“We certainly will be looking to repeat
this at Lockex 2018 and hope that many
more people will take the opportunity to
come along to such a good event.”
