No More Turned-Down Jobs- Learn & Grow at MPL
» FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS AT A small trade counter in Wakefield, MultiPoint Locks( MPL) has grown into one of the UK’ s most respected locksmith training providers and specialist distributors. The business began its transformation when it was taken on by Graham Jones, a self-employed locksmith and joiner with a vision for growth. Under his guidance, the Wakefield Lock & Key Centre laid the foundations for what would become MPL.
As the business evolved, Nicky England-who started out working on the trade counter-gradually took on more responsibility. With a passion for the trade and a clear eye for opportunity, Nicky worked his way up and now serves as CEO, helping to steer the company through continued expansion. Graham, now retired, remains involved as the majority shareholder, continuing to support the vision he helped build.
Whether you’ re a solo locksmith looking to expand your skillset or a larger team providing property maintenance, MPL training will help you keep more work in-house. Their nationally trusted and accredited training centre, fully stocked trade counter, and online distribution hub mean locksmiths have access to everything they need.
A Simple Mission: Upskill to Unlock Work
Talk to any practicing locksmith, and you’ ll hear:“ I had to turn the job down because I didn’ t have the knowledge or the tools.” MPL exists to stop that from happening.
From their purpose-built training centre in Wakefield, MPL equips new and experienced tradespeople with the skills to say yes to more jobs. Their courses don’ t just teach lock-picking- they cover real, on-the-job scenarios involving wooden doors, UPVC mechanisms, access control, key safes, and even auto locksmithing.
“ We built this business to help people go further,” says Nicky.“ Whether you’ re brand new or 10 years into the trade, our goal is to give you more than a certificate- we want to instil you with confidence.” Their fully comprehensive courses are City & Guilds and NCFE accredited, and they also boast a variety of smaller bespoke-style training courses aimed at people already within the trade. With instructors who’ ve worked the tools for decades and a network of expert partners, MPL bridges the gap between theory and practical trade application.
Three Businesses, One Unified Vision
MPL’ s success lies in how its core offerings complement each other. Their work is built on three main pillars:
MPL Training Centre – Monckton Road, Wakefield
The heart of MPL’ s operation. With 11 training courses currently running and more in development, this is where the transformation begins. Locksmithing foundations, UPVC entry, access control, non-destructive entry, specialist tool use- there’ s a course for every level and ambition.
Wakefield Trade Counter – 31 Westgate End, WF2 9RG
Still going strong after all these years, the trade counter is more than a shop. It’ s a hub where local locksmiths, tradespeople, and the public come for advice, part-matching, and practical help. The staff are all from the trade themselves. They know the tools, the techniques, and the challenges locksmiths face.
Online Lock Shop – multipointlocks. co. uk
MPL’ s online store serves locksmiths, councils, and housing providers across the UK. It stocks everything from ironmongery and cylinders to advanced tools from Souber, Wendt, and Multipick. In fact, MPL is one of the UK’ s largest distributors for those top-tier brands, only stocking what their own team would use and recommend.
Multi Point Locks – your one-stop-shop for all your locks, hardware & specialist locksmith tools.
