SECRETARY
Hello Freshers and FUTURE DOCTORS!
First of all, I’d like to congratulate each and every one of you for getting a place to study
medicine in what is undoubtedly one of the best cities in the world, LIVERPOOL! You have
done ridiculously well to get here and should be so proud of yourselves. A huge welcome to
what will inevitably be the best five/six years of your life.
I’m Charly and I am your LMSS secretary for the coming year. I’m going into my 6 th year of
university having intercalated in Humanitarian Studies last year at the Liverpool School of
Tropical Medicine. My job is to ensure that the inner workings of the society run as smoothly
as possible and to oversee the rest of the committee (who are absolutely FAB this year, you
couldn’t wish to meet a bunch of friendlier people). I’m also here to lend a helping hand to
whoever may need it, to ensure you get the most out of your time in Liverpool! I know that
moving away from home to university is a daunting experience and that is why I want you to
know that through the LMSS you already have a whole new set of friends, who can’t wait to
meet you in September!
The LMSS has totally shaped my
university experience and took me
under its wing when I was a fresher
and that’s why I want to ensure we
do the same for youThe LMSS is the
oldest medical student society in the
whole of the UK and currently has
over 1500 members (this provides you
with the opportunity to meet lots of
older students who can provide you with
plenty of advice and guidance)..
Whether you’re looking to challenge
yourself by completing the 3 peaks in
<24hrs, get involved in multiple charity
events, excel in fancy dress at our themed
nights out, get suited and booted at one of
our many balls, try out a new sport or swot up
at our extensive revision weekends…it’s got
something for everyone.
The LMSS has given me some of the best
teaching I have received in my whole time at
Liverpool, provided me with brilliant socials and
friends for life. You’re going to be receiving a lot of
advice before you come to Liverpool but the one
piece of advice I’d love you to listen to is:
