he students at Cooley Elementary are embracing two of their favorite fall pastimes: reading and decorating pumpkins! Storytelling pumpkins give kids the opportunity to tell their friends about the books they love by decorating pumpkins like their favorite storybook characters. The pumpkins are rolling in daily, but so far more than 20 pumpkins make up the Cooley Library’s pumpkin patch. Characters range from the classic Cat in the Hat and Cinderella to the more trendy Rarity and Pokemon. We even have a beautiful sugar skull pumpkin in honor of the upcoming Dia de los Muertos holiday! The storytelling pumpkin patch has been a fun way to promote reading and involve parents.
