Readers who have, or do not have, an interest in cats will be pleased by the information gathered, as well as the pictures displayed throughout the book. Teachers and students can use this book to perform simple research-based projects. On a scale of 1 – 5 stars, I rate the book 4 stars. Recommended by Linda Gomez

THE MOST MAGNIFICENT THING by Ashley Spires. (Grades 3-5)In her book, The Most Magnificent Thing, Ashley Spires captures an ordinary young character’s vision, determination, and frustrations to achieve her goal via the illustrations and text. There is much to appreciate about this book. The illustrations, for example, take the reader on the roller coaster of emotions the character undergoes. The relevance of these emotions can help young readers make personal connections. In addition, Spires’ message to persevere speaks to every young child who dreams of inventing something unique. It also speaks to adults who at some time may struggle with encouraging a child to finish the task, rather than quit. The Most Magnificent Thing is a must for elementary school library shelves. Teachers, counselors, parents, and young readers are the ideal audience for this book. On a scale of 1 – 5 stars, I rate the book five stars for its storyline. Highly recommended by Linda Gomez
