OSH NOBLE, Manager for Alumni Relations, sat down
with King’s Alumna HEIDI WAGNER (BA, ’01, B.Ed. ’02)
owner of The Melting Pot in Edmonton.
I am really passionate about what we are able to do through
the restaurant for our community and think it is important to
give back.
J: Hi Heidi, I appreciate you taking some time to chat. You
played basketball during your time at King’s – what else
stands out about your experience of King’s?
J: What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs?
H: Well, one major thing was always the sense of community
and the environment. I was originally taking classes at Grant
MacEwan and was recruited to play basketball at King’s.
I ultimately was swayed by the sense of community that
I found here… people really cared about people.
J: What have you been up to since King’s?
H: Oh, well, it has now been over 10 years…wow. Well,
married in 2005… I went to work after grad in a corporate
training role for an insurance company. I have an Education
Degree, but never actually worked in the school system. We
have also been blessed with three beautiful children (they are
in grade 1, Kindergarten, and 18 months old). In March 2010
we opened The Melting Pot in Edmonton, Alberta.
