King’s Foundation
News
By Rick Struik, Executive Director
W
ith the new academic year underway, The King’s
University College Foundation is looking forward to the
upcoming year to support the mission and vision of King’s.
Here are a few recent highlights:
In April of this year, The Directors of the Foundation
unanimously approved a motion to appoint Henk Van
Andel, past King’s president (1985-2005) and a current
Foundation member, to a part-time position of Membership
Development Coordinator. Since his appointment, the
Foundations membership has seen a 35 per cent growth and
currently sits at 71 members.
In and around October of 2006, a much smaller Foundation
membership approved a request from King’s to financially
support a six-year $780,000 funding commitment to the
Secondary Education Program. At the end of this academic
year, the Foundation will be proud to have honoured this
commitment and will make its final payment. King’s, in
consultation with the Foundation’s Executive Director and the
Foundation’s Promotions Committee, has begun to develop
a list of projects that the Foundation will review this year and
begin funding at the start of the 2013-2014 budget year.
One of the possible new projects that King’s has asked the
Foundation to financially support is an Alumni Relations
Manager position; the membership will vote on this at its
Annual General Meeting on October 12. The funds will
support the position and some related expenses incurred as
this person reconnects with former students.
As Executive Director, I’m grateful for the continued support
of our membership and together we look forward to assisting
King’s with many more projects enabling them to offer a highquality Christian post-secondary education for generations to
come. ?
