The Journal of Animal Consciousness Vol 1, Issue 2 Vol 1 Issue 2

Journal Of Animal Consciousness Editors Note Animal consciousness is still a matter of taboo in the conventional field. Indeed, the Cambridge Declaration of consciousness in animals has not deeply influenced conventional attitudes and accepted welfare protocols. In this edition we focus on why animals really matter. Indeed, theories abound relating to behavioralevolutionary concepts of animal behavior. However, very few embrace the idea that animals have true interiority. This requires a mind shift in the scientific realm from objectification and compartmentalization to free observation from an integrated world view. Indeed, this requires the ability to avoid projections with an expanded understanding of the dynamic interplay between the environment, physiology, mental processes and resulting emotional expressions. It is easy for humans to interpret behavior through their own filtered understanding. However, neutral observation for the sake of viewing the animals perspective is largely unaccepted and/or considered soft. This edition will begin to widen and deepen the net of understanding from an integrated and wholistic view.
