75 water for the past few weeks .
The river was glowing in the light of fireflies , flying right above it . After drinking water , I stood up and saw an apple tree full of ripened red apples on it . That made me run towards the tree in joy . I plucked the apple and gave it a bite . It was the most delicious apple I have ever had in my life . As I sat on a rock by the river and continued eating , I heard some noise .
HELP !!!, someone ’ s screaming . Looking at the direction from which the voice was heard , I saw a boat approaching me . A man could be seen in the boat . As the boat came closer I could see a girl lying on his lap . She was unconscious . He brought the boat closer to the river bank . He jumped out screaming , ‘ please , save my daughter ’.
She was a beautiful , young girl . Her eyes were closed . She was breathing . I checked her pulse , it was normal . I told her father she seems ok and her pulse is normal too , so she might be alright if she takes rest . Let her sleep for a while . He said thank you and took her to the boat . After laying his daughter down on the boat , he got out and washed his face . I plucked two apples , offered him one and sat down .
’ I have been wandering around in this forest for a long time , do you know a way out of this place sir ?’, I asked him . ‘ No son , but I do believe that this river should lead us the way out ’, he said . I asked him to take me with them . Without hesitation , he said yes . I stood up with a smile on my face and thanked him for his kindness .
As we both were talking we heard the rippling of water from a distance . The voice got louder and louder each second , as it was coming towards us . We looked towards the direction from which the voice was heard . We couldn ’ t see a thing . we started to move closer to get a proper view . I could see the amount of water is increasing rapidly . He said the river is overflowing .
Run !!!, the boat isn ’ t tied . The waters seem to be faster and stronger . If we can ’ t make it to the boat we all will die . We ran to the boat and I got on it . I turned and gave him a hand on climbing . As he took hold of my hand the boat started to flow with the water . He somehow managed to climb up . He asked me to take cover and lie down next to his daughter . ( who is still unconscious ). He then started to take control of the boat , but I knew he was struggling to control it . I stood up and took hold of the left side paddle .
All of a sudden the boat shook and he lost his paddle . The boat now started to move in multiple directions . I started to recognize that the speed of the water was decreasing . And that the boat started to move slowly . As he bends down to look at his daughter . He saw water flowing into the boat from the edges .
He stood up and said ,’ I think that the boat has been hit by some rock , and that might be the reason it shook so hard ’.’ We must get out of the boat as fast as possible , its sinking ’. I asked him to pick up his daughter and jump on my count .’ Jumpppp !!, there might be another way ’ he asked . ‘ No , without the paddle we can ’ t change the direction of the boat , we got to jump ’. I started to count . One …. two ….. three and JUMPPP …...
We landed on a soft grass bed . I stood up and looked at the man , but I could see his daughter trying to wake him up . ‘ your awake ’, I asked . ‘ Yes , now are you just going to stay there or help me wake him up ’ she asked in a harsh tone . Seeing her struggle to wake him up , I took some water from the river and sprinkled it on him . ‘ aaaaaaaaaaaaah , am I alive ’, he asked . I gave him a hand to wake up . As he got on his feet , he hugged his daughter and said ‘ Mia , you ’ re awake my dear ’. Yes , dad , I am fine she said . And she asked him to lay down and take some rest .
She then walked towards me with a displeased look on her face and asked , ‘ Who are you ? and what were you doing with my dad ?’. Well , my name is Jonas . And I was let by your dad to join you guys get out of here . By the way , What happened to you ?. You were unconscious when I saw you for the first time , what happened ?.
I could memorise myself paddling the boat with my dad , we were talking to each other . Then something …….. I don ’ t remember anything after that . Hmmm , so what happened to you is a mystery . Your dad and I had talked for a long while , but we didn ’ t ask each other ’ s names , what ’ s his name ?. ‘ David Carter is his name ’
‘ Well , how did you end up in this forest Jonas ?’. You could call me John instead of Jonas . Yeah , so I was attending the science exhibition presented by the juniors of our college , that ’ s when one of the seniors , Davis , started to tease one of the juniors . I interrupted the conversation , we got into an oral fight . In between the conversation our Principal came into the auditorium . Then my friends pulled me back , Davis said he would pay revenge to me .
That day itself , after finishing the evening slots I was returning home . Then someone struck me from behind and when I ……….. wait , that ’ s it . Davis told he would pay revenge on me , so he is the one who struck me and trapped me in that stupid wooden hut . He is dead once I get out of here . ‘ If you get out of here ’, said Mia .
Yeah , that ’ s right . Let ’ s ask your dad for a way to get out . As we turned we couldn ’ t see him , Mia said , ‘ there ’ s something written on the ground ’. We moved closer . It was written in a very shabby handwriting . It said “ YOUR COUNTDOWN STARTS NOW ”
