start to finish. Crofton has taught me the importance of commitment, perseverance, and dedication, and I know that this lesson will stay with me long after graduation. – Abbey
What were you most excited for your daughter to experience during her time at CHS?
What excited me most was the opportunity for Abbey to grow within a school community that empowers girls to be confi dent, independent, and resilient. Crofton House School offers an extraordinary range of opportunities that inspire students to explore their passions, take risks, and develop as leaders. I was also inspired by the opportunity for her to learn from exceptional educators who challenge, support, and encourage each student to discover their strengths and become the very best version of themselves. – Christina
SARAH LO AND TARYN MACKENZIE
Sarah Lo graduated in 1991 and, after completing a BA in Art History and B. Ed from UBC, moved to Hong Kong to teach at the Canadian International School— living there for 23 years before moving back to Vancouver in 2019. Taryn was born in Hong Kong and joined CHS in Grade 6. Next year, Taryn will be attending Huron University College at Western University to study Business.
How do you think your connection to Crofton House will continue in the future?
My mum has always been very involved in the alumnae community and has dedicated countless hours to organizing events and bringing people together. While I may not be quite as involved right away, I definitely hope to stay connected by attending alumnae gatherings, meeting up with fellow graduates at university, and returning for traditions like the alumnae field hockey game. As I grow older, I hope to become increasingly involved in the community and, perhaps, contribute as much as— or even more than— my mum has over the years. – Taryn
How has your connection to Crofton House been important to you?
I have always stayed connected to Crofton House, even while living abroad. After returning to Vancouver, Patricia Lee’ 91 invited me to attend an Alumnae Association meeting. That invitation rekindled my involvement with the School community. I have partnered with the CHS Parents’ Association to help launch the Crofton House Community Book Club and Drop-In Pickleball, and I have been one of the primary organizers of the Graduates’ Tea since it resumed after COVID. These initiatives have reinforced for me the importance of creating opportunities for alumnae to connect across generations and life stages.
I believe Taryn and her classmates will remain even more connected than previous generations. Through the efforts of the Alumnae Association and the School, programs such as the Young Alumnae Social and University Chapter visits provide meaningful opportunities to stay in touch and support one another through life’ s transitions. My hope is that these experiences will help foster friendships that not only last through university, but continue to enrich their lives for decades to come. – Sarah

What relationships or moments have most defined your time at CHS?
I was fortunate to have the unique experience of going on exchange to Brisbane in Grade 10. While utilizing my support systems back at CHS, I had the best time ever in my two months there, making many new friends and integrating my exchange family into the rest of my life. – Isabel
What were you most excited about for your daughter at CHS?
My husband and I attended an Open House on a complete whim. Within seconds of the video starting, I started crying and knew that Isabel would make a great Croftie. She has taken advantage of everything this school offers, from the wonderful
