The Park Family

SUPPORTING A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
As parents , we are always encouraged to take an active role in our children ’ s schools . Getting involved helps us to connect with the daily life of the school community and with the learning experience of our children . Crofton House School , as many independent schools , continues to thrive thanks to its strong foundation of volunteerism and philanthropy . Nevertheless , rarely does this partnership exceed the 10 – 12 years mark , the duration of the time a child is at school . The Park family ’ s partnership is one of the rare exceptions .
John and Jeannie Park joined Crofton House School in 2002 , when their daughter Rebecca entered Grade 3 and their younger daughter , Rachel , entered Grade 1 . This long-standing partnership with Crofton House School came to its completion in June , when their youngest daughter , Isabelle , completed Grade 12 .
During their time at Crofton House , the Park family have supported the capital campaign for the Senior School , the financial assistance program , and countless golf tournaments and galas . In May , I was happy to see Jeannie play golf with other Crofton House moms one more time before leaving the CHS community .
Throughout the years , Jeannie has been a dedicated volunteer for many CHS activities , including helping to organize the grade event in support of the Imagine the Possibilities campaign , volunteering with multiple New Parents ’ Appeals and , in 2019 , co-chairing the gala in honour of
Dr Dawson ’ s 19 years of service at CHS . I also vividly remember asking Jeannie to be part of our ECE campaign video in 2011 . It ’ s never easy to be in front of a camera , but Jeannie accepted the challenge , reminding us of the importance of “ giving back in order to keep the calibre of the School very high .”
This fall , John and Jeannie ’ s youngest daughter , Isabelle , will be joining her brother , James , at Western University . She will pursue studies in computer science . Her sister Rebecca ’ 12 graduated from McGill University with a degree in environmental science and from the University of Ottawa with a degree in law . She returned to Vancouver , accepting a clerking position for the Chief Justice of the BC Supreme Court and now is working at Arvay Finlay as a litigator specialized in constitutional , environmental and Aboriginal law . Her sister Rachel ’ 14 graduated from Ivey Business School having completed a dual law and business degree . She now lives in Toronto and works at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg as a corporate lawyer .
We hope that Isabelle , Rebecca and Rachel will continue to stay in touch with CHS and perhaps explore one of the many alumnae volunteering opportunities in support of the Senior School students .
On behalf of CHS , I would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the Park family for their dedication over the years and for helping us “ to keep the calibre of the school very high .”
