BAZAAR , Virtually
For the second time , the Winter Bazaar brought our community together online . We want to thank the CHS Parents ’ Auxiliary Winter Bazaar co-chairs Angela Haer and Rachel Leihl , and their committees for all of their hard work ‘ behind the screens ’. Thank you for bringing together our partners , supporters and volunteers to benefit KidSafe and to boost holiday spirits .
“ It was wonderful to see Crofton House families come together in this time of virtual normal ,” said Angela .
“ It ’ s traditions like these that remind us that we are all part of this amazing community and that we are here for each other . We ’ re proud to have been a part of it ,” added Rachel .
This year , the virtual event featured favourites like the sale of plants , wreaths and holiday cards , and continued the delicious tradition of offering sweet and savoury pies . And in a Winter Bazaar first , sales of catered platters meant that families could have a tea room experience in the comfort of their homes .
Since it began in the 1940s , the Winter Bazaar has always focused on building connections , making friends and having fun together while supporting our community . That ’ s why we are pleased to announce this year ’ s donation of just over $ 23,200 for KidSafe , a local organization providing children with safety , supervision , nutritious meals and educational programming during times when schools are traditionally closed . This year ’ s
donation meant we were able to provide approximately 7,200 meals and snacks for children in KidSafe ’ s meal programs — nearly all of the food required for winter break at 12 of their locations .
“ A huge , heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing Crofton House community for the incredible support we received over the holidays . I was thrilled to hear that the annual Winter Bazaar was still able to go ahead online ,” said Chantelle Krish , the CEO of KidSafe . “ 2021 was tough on all of us , but it was especially hard on KidSafe ’ s young people and their families . The amazing generosity of the Crofton House community ensures that our doors remain open to some of Vancouver ’ s most vulnerable children ! Thank you .”
