Renew Your Mind with Bible Study: 10 Tips
Here are 10 tips for renewing your mind with Bible study.
1) Make Bible study a priority. We’ re never too busy to eat. Why are we too busy to feed on God’ s Word?
2) Pray before and after each study to ask God to open up your mind and heart to what He wants to say to you. This simple step can help a lot!
3) Avoid Bible study plans that require you to cover large amounts of text in one sitting. The Bible is a very rich book and you need to understand what you are reading.
4) Use commentaries, dictionaries, and resources to help you learn. No Bible scholar learned the Bible without help. Why should you?
5) Arrange to have some quiet time every single day, whether it’ s a lunch hour at work or time early every morning. Ten uninterrupted minutes is better than an hour of distracted study.
6) Don’ t get hung up if you do not understand everything. Even Bible scholars still debate about certain verses. Study what you can and treasure those things you don’ t get today in your heart – maybe you will understand them at some point in the future.
7) If you miss a day or two of Bible study, go right back. Don’ t waste any more time beating yourself up, just get back to the Bible.
8) Put what you learn into practice, as much as you can. As you understand how to apply Biblical principles, your study will be more compelling.
9) Find the techniques( like journaling, praying God’ s word, setting up a group study) that work for you and know that the methods you prefer may not be the methods that work best for others.
10) Share what you learn with your friends, family, and other people that are put in your path. The world is hungry for God’ s Word, but so few people really know it!
