At Kesgrave Playschool we have
been loving the “outdoor explorer”
sessions. These nature-based sessions
allow children to develop a sense of
their local environment, promotes
overall well-being and encourages
natural curiosity, risk assessment
and independence. Some of the
activities the children have taken
part in are: senses nature walks, mud
kitchen sessions, making faces using
natural objects in the woods, and
environment colour hunts. We have
also been promoting British values
through introducing a daily choice.
Children now “vote” in order to make
important decisions such as which
story we read, what fruit/veg we have
for snack, or if we sing or dance at end
of session! It’s been a great talking
point for the children and staff. It not
only allows children to feel respected
At Martlesham everyone is getting
involved with our new themes. We
have a new theme in our role play
area each week with new and exciting
activities for the children to explore.
We have now spent the rest of our
Tesco money and bought a new play
house for the garden. The children
have been exploring the environment
with the little explorers club, making
natural crowns, collecting leaves and
doing rubbings.
We still have some spaces left for this
and future terms at both playschools

round. Our dedicated teams ensure
