Irish Folk band CEÓL are set to release their latest single “The Ferryman” on Friday 26th May 2023. The song was written in the 1980s by Pete St John, for The Dublin City Ramblers. It relates to economic change in the city. The song is a monologue, by a former pilot of a ferry on the River Liffey to his wife, Molly, as he contemplates the implications of his unemployment.
The video for “The Ferryman” was shot in Dublin, and features CEÓLs energetic live performance set to the stunning backdrop of the city and docklands CEÓL was formed in 2021 and Is made up of 4 lads in their 20s from all over Ireland with a passion for folk and trad' music. Discovered by Nathan Carter and Liam McKenna.....

Taking inspiration from The Dubliners, The Chieftans, Christy Moore, Mumford and Sons, and many other great Irish and international artists before them, CEOL aim to bring folk music to a new generation.
Nathan Carter said: “The idea came to me when I was travelling around Ireland and seeing so many talented young musicians singing and playing in pubs every night of the week. I thought to myself, there is an opening here for a great young band who play a mix of the old folk songs with a contemporary modern twist.
Within 12 months of joining TikTok they have amassed over 5 million views, making them
Ireland's fastest growing debut music artist on the platform. Having appeared on all the
major TV shows in the last year.
CEÓL have taken the live music scene by storm, selling out gigs all over Ireland and
the UK.
