Matthew Lien is a songwriter, composer, performer and producer of musical and multimedia works. With a passion for field recording, he seeks out remote destinations from the arctic to the tropics, mountain peaks to underwater volcanoes, in search of sound, music and inspiration.

His first release Bleeding Wolves became a multi-platinum legend in Southeast Asia where his 20+ albums remain popular today and where he's received honors never bestowed upon a foreigner, including being the first to perform at the Southeast Asia Grammy-equivalent Awards, the first to be nominated, and the first to win the highest music award in the Mando-Asia region. He's since garnered six more nominations, while his work in television and radio have earned an Emmy-equivalent and four nominations.

His concert performances have sold out the most prestigious concert halls in Southeast Asia, attracting audiences of up to 30,000. For his efforts to promote indigenous and traditional culture through music, he's been appointed Cultural Ambassador by Taiwan's government, and Man of the Year by Esquire magazine.

Back home in Canada, he's been awarded Best Yukon Artist and two nominations at the WCMA's, the Canadian Parliamentary Certificate of Honour, the Canada-based Taiwan Embassy Certificate of Appreciation, and an appointment as Yukon's Special Envoy to Taiwan.

His research into immersive audio and acoustic archaeology has earned him the 2021 Yukon University Innovation Prize, and his findings have been published by the Audio Engineering Society (AES). where he's been invited to lecture in Dublin and Paris.

Matthew instructs master classes for universities and trade schools focused on innovative and immersive audio techniques, and his development of new techniques has recently culminated in an album seven years in the making, entitled Full Circle, released in 2024.
