Lunches and coffee mornings
Kirsty Scaddan
The ASC love holding monthly lunches and coffee mornings to bring together the spouses of all the nations within the Imjin area and share some authentic dishes and treats from around the world .
Last year we were lucky to be able to resume the ASC lunches and coffee mornings . With so many keen to host , we had a huge variety of countries and cuisines to try . In addition , the very generous raffles during the lunches raised an enormous £ 1325 for charities including The Hamper Scamper , Gloucester Bundles and the Ukraine appeal .
Since August this year , the Latvian and Lithuanian contingent held a delicious Baltic lunch raising a further £ 176 for the Ukraine appeal and we have had three wonderful

IMJIN COMMUNITY LIBRARY

Imjin Community Library launched at the end of July . Thanks must go to the American family who , several years ago , donated a large set of brand new Osborne books for the community to use , as part of an Eagle Scout project . Sadly , due to Covid , the books had to be put away for a while .
But now they are back , and thanks to the generous donations of other families on the patch , we have over 450 books for our children and teenagers to enjoy .
The library is along the main corridor inside the community centre . Please come and have a look through the shelves , and choose some books to enjoy . Once you have read them , please return them and choose some more !
coffee mornings hosted by the UK and French contingents and a bring your own where the treats on offer were divine . We are excited for November ’ s upcoming events with a USA thanksgiving lunch and Turkish coffee morning .
If you would like to attend , please keep your eyes peeled for the events on the Facebook page , WhatsApp groups and emails or get in touch .
Imjin Toddler Group
On Mondays , while their parents are busy wearing uniforms of green and blue , the toddlers of Imjin Barracks are also busy here at the Community Centre . Instead of computers , paperwork and meetings however , we get to enjoy toys , craft and music !
This term , the toddlers and babies have been enjoying lots of new toys , thanks to funding from Welfare ; which have enabled the group leaders to expand the activities on offer to the children .
Mornings always start with free play , where the children can move between craft , sensory activities and a variety of toys , while the parents and carers enjoy a drink . We have been exploring autumn this term , with conkers and pine cones in our tuff tray , leaf printing with playdough and painting our own hedgehogs . The children also enjoyed a Diwali themed morning , decorating their own Diya lamps and enjoying all things colour and light .
After snack time , our sessions always end with music and singing which is a hit with all ages .
The Toddler group is open to all military families in the area and is the perfect place to meet other parents and carers , and for the children to play with their favourite things . It is hosted from 09:30 – 11:30 every Monday at the Community Centre . More information can be found on the community WhatsApp groups and our Facebook group : “ Imjin Station Community Toddler Group ”.
For the children there was a fun treasure hunt to fill their passports with flags from each nation , plus facepainting , hockey , and a bouncy castle to burn off all the sugary treats .
There was a Khukri knife display , performed by serving Gurkha ’ s and a traditional dance from Nepal .
Finally , the raffle raised £ 2525 for the charity Alabaré ’ s Home for Veterans , which provides temporary accommodation to British Armed Forces Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless .
