OUT AND ABOUT WITH WELFARE

ROYAL ASCOT Alice Havelkova

After a longer pause , Royal Ascot returned and we couldn ’ t miss it . What could be more British to experience ? The event was attended by 44 people from the Imjin community , including 9 children , who really enjoyed the day . All the ladies were very elegant , equipped of course with the necessary fascinators or hats so synonymous of Royal Ascot .
It was a long , exhausting and especially hot day full of experiences and fun which was spent in the Windsor enclosure . This area offered vast lawns , where we enjoyed a day-long picnic . There were plenty of refreshment options and a stage with live music in the area ; which was a welcome diversion and above all , offered some much-needed shade . It was fascinating to walk around and see all the ladies in their unusual dresses and hats .
In the afternoon , the races opened with a royal procession where we were lucky enough to see Princess Anne riding in a carriage with her family . The rest of the day was equally exciting ; especially if you like to place a bet or two . Some of us even were even lucky enough to win a little . The atmosphere of a giant crowd cheering at the finish line was electric and it was this part of the day which was the most popular with the children . Each race had their favourite and they cheered with real enthusiasm . With so much excitement , on the way back , most of us , except the kids of course , fell asleep on the bus .
We look forward to seeing you !

Innsworth Coworking Network

Running your own business , or working from home can get very lonely . It can sometimes seem like there is no one to turn to for advice , nor anyone to encourage you when you need it . say “ yes , you can do it !” That ’ s why the Innsworth Coworking Network and Hub was created .
On the first Thursday of every month , from 09:00 – 11:00 at the Imjin Barracks Community Centre , a space is available for those that “ WFH ” to come together . There are quiet spaces to work or take calls , group tables where you can collaborate and share ideas , and sofas to take that all important coffee break .
So far , the network has welcomed a huge variety of businesspeople , including : Virtual Assistants , Photographers , Yoga Instructors , Translators and Proofreaders to name just a few . Everyone has enjoyed the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge , and to ask fellow entrepreneurs those “ stupid questions ”.
Alongside time to work , the Network also provides the opportunity for our members to be guest speakers . We have enjoyed a short yoga session to teach us some yoga poses that we can do from our desks , and we ’ ve also had a social media expert answer our questions and show us how we can make the most of our social media platforms .
We ’ d love to welcome along more members , so if you work from home , run your own business or are thinking of starting a business , then please come down and meet us ! It ’ s FREE to come along , with hot drinks and snacks available for a small cost . More details can be found on the “ Imjin Station Community ” Facebook page or from the Welfare Office in the Community Centre itself .
