9 REGT RLC GUARDING THE KING
4 Sep – 16 Nov 22
94 Supply Squadron Queen ’ s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment ( QOGLR ) assumed the task of Public Duties Reinforcement Company . This required a very intense few weeks of drill and ceremonial practice , with many of the soldiers having to learn heavy drill for the first time . The Sqn ’ s hard work paid off with 7 Officers and 85 Soldiers passing the Fit for Role Inspection with flying colours and ready to take over their first Queen ’ s Guard . On the passing of Her Majesty The Queen , the Sqn took over the guard at the Tower of London to enable Household Division units to be released to prepare for the royal funeral . As such 94 Sqn was the first unit to guard the King ’ s Keys . The remainder of the Sqn were privileged to form part of the street lining contingent in London . After the official mourning period , the Sqn resumed Public Duties mounting 9 Guards at Windsor Castle and 13 King ’ s Guards at Buckingham Palace , in addition to maintaining the Guard at the Tower of London .
